This interbank payment infrastructure processes the clearing and settlement of transactions across the entire Colombian financial system. Payments via PSE, automatic debits, interbank transfers, and e-commerce collections all flow through this network.

Until this project began, processing operated on a batch system: transactions were accumulated and cleared in periodic intervals through a deferred settlement model.

However, the market, regulatory changes, and competitive pressure from Bre-B demanded a structural transformation. The system needed to shift to a 100% online transaction model, where every single operation is verified, validated, and recorded in real time. This required re-architecting the entire clearing infrastructure—both facing the commercial banks and the Central Bank (Banco de la República)—onto a new integration layer capable of handling real-time transaction volumes at a national scale.
